Arvid Nyholm was another early member of the P&C. As far as I know, he’s the only P&C member ever to have had Anders Zorn as a teacher. Here are a few of his pieces, the last one being a self-portrait from 1924. You can read a biography of Nyholm here. The “History of the Swedes in Illinois” describes Nyholm thus: “In his personality Mr. Nyholm is a combination of northern rigor and strength and the sanguine fire of the south.”

There is a beautiful portrait of Daniel Burnham “after Zorn” by Nyholm hanging in the library at the Art Institute.
