This is a photo of 1012 N. Dearborn from 1921, when the P&C bought the property.

A couple things to note: first, there is a fence around the property, but it’s much lower than what is there now. In my opinion, the low fence looks much better. Second, note the stone newel posts at the foot of the front stairs. Each was crowned by a large round stone capital. Those stone capitals are still lying today at the foot of the stairs. Next time you walk up the stairs, take a look and you’ll see them–all that is left of what was a far more graceful entrance than what we have today.
